The new Food Bank Charity re-plenish launched
29-10-2009
MTD has created the brand strategy and brand identity for re-plenish, the newly launched Oxford based charity that is operating a local Food Bank and will continue to provide the much needed ongoing marketing support.
The registered charity re-plenish takes unsold food from local supermarkets and suppliers and redistributes it to existing community food projects. Following a pilot phase the project is now up and running in and around Oxford collecting, sorting and distributing surplus and ‘at sell by date’ food from local Sainsbury’s and Co-Operative supermarkets. This simple system provides healthy, wholesome food to people who need it and reduces the amount of unsold food that ends up in landfill. Currently approximately 20 million tonnes of food waste goes into landfill every year!
MTD got involved with this project about 18 months ago running inclusive workshops with the volunteers and trustees to guide and nurture the brand strategy and vision for the business. MTD used the output from the workshops, research and user group testing to create the name and brand identity that is re-plenish.
At the recent press launch, which achieved widespread media coverage, including both the early and late evening BBC and Meridian news. Initial coverage in the press includes the BBC website and the Oxford Mail.
The new re-plenish website, designed and produced by MTD has also been launched. The content management system, blog, video and social networking functionality we have built in will allow the re-plenish team to make plenty of noise and have complete control of their PR and news. Our thanks go to Dave and his team at White October, our trusted partners for the development work on this site.
There's still plenty to do and re-plenish would be pleased to hear from anyone that feels they can support them in any way possible. Check out the re-plenish website and if you can, get involved.
