A day in the life of a suit
I start off the day checking my emails with a cup of tea (doesn’t everyone!?). Today, my first task was to look at a brief that we’ve had from a client. It looks pretty comprehensive, so I meet with a couple of my colleagues to brainstorm some initial ideas. At Marketing Team Direct we have an integrated approach, which is far more interesting than some agencies that only cover specific areas. We’re also very client focused and everyone genuinely cares about producing the best solution for the client, so it’s an inspiring place to be.
Having considered a range of ideas, it’s time to price them up. We have in-house design and web development capabilities, but we outsource things like print. Luckily we’ve built up a good base of trusted suppliers. I put together spec details so that relevant suppliers have the opportunity to quote – this way we know that we’re always getting the best price for our clients.
In the meantime one of our printers comes in with some proofs. I give them a thorough check-through to make sure they’re perfect.
I can’t believe it’s lunch-time already - the days fly by! After a bite to eat and yet more tea I head off to a client meeting. We’re presenting a proposal for a new website. Our web offering is absolutely brilliant, so I have no doubt that the client will be impressed.
When I get back to the office, a group of us get round a table to review some creative work. At this stage, we’re looking at some ‘Big Ideas’. We’re all encouraged to contribute ideas and suggestions, so there’s a real sense of teamwork.
I end the day by writing this piece for our website (not something that I do most days, obviously).
The great thing about my job is that I work across a broad range of clients and get involved in lots of different projects. I’ve learnt so much since I joined Marketing Team Direct. I’ve worked for big organisations in the past and, while they all provided great experience, I always felt like I was a little fish in a big pond. At Marketing Team Direct there’s a really creative atmosphere, everyone is valued and everyone’s opinion counts (and I’m not just saying that to try to get a pay rise!).
